Roam’s Summer Reading List

The temps are rising, and the sluggishness of summertime has settled in. It seems that no matter how many cups of iced coffee you drink or energizing playlists you listen to, they still aren’t enough to keep you motivated and focused this time of year. So why fight it? We encourage you to take a step back from the to-do list and rest this summer. After all, everybody needs a vacation every once in a while.  So, book that beach trip you’ve been talking about, load-up the SUV and head to the mountains or treat yourself to a staycation here in Atlanta. Whatever destination you choose for your summer refresher, don’t forget about packing a few books or downloading a podcast or two to re-invigorate your mind while you’re OOO (out of office).

To get you started, the Roam team has compiled favorites from our own reading and listening lists. These resources are full of innovative concepts and creative ideas from some of the business world’s best and brightest. Without further ado, here’s our round-up of what to read and listen to this summer-

  • “The Power of Moments” by Chip Heath and Dan Heath – Life-defining, meaningful moments happen largely by chance, but they don’t have to. This book will teach you how to create extraordinary encounters by embracing the four key elements that make them happen: elevation, pride, insight and connection. It’s a must-read book for anybody who simply wants to experience more out of life.
  • “High Performance Habits” by Brendon Burchard – What is it about successful people that makes them so dynamic, successful and overall extraordinary? This book is the culmination of three years of work by the author and almost a million dollars’ worth of research. Discover the six key traits shared by today’s highest performers and how you can implement them to achieve new heights at work and at home.
  • “Great at Work” by Morten Hansen – If you are interested in learning how to work smarter, not harder, this book is for you. Hansen gives research-backed insights on how to master our own work, our work with others and our work-life balance. The practical applications presented make the content easy to digest and ultimately transformative for job performance and satisfaction.
  • “Competing against Luck” by Clayton M. Christensen – Christensen unpacks his revolutionary Theory of Jobs to Be Done and how companies can take the guesswork out of innovation and predictably develop products and services that customers will pay a premium for. This is a must-read for anyone looking to gain insights into consumer behavior in today’s dynamic marketplace.
