What inspired you to launch Keith Hicks Consulting

Starting my own business was many years in the making. I spent 30 years in a corporate setting as a business and human resources executive. As my career evolved, I developed a passion for developing leaders. A seed was planted back in 2000 when I was fortunate enough to have my own leadership coach. When I experienced first-hand the power of leadership coaching, I knew I wanted to do that one day. The opportunity came in 2016 when the company I was with at the time was acquired. I knew then it was time to follow my passion and strike out on my own as a leadership consultant and coach.

2. What do you find to be the most rewarding part of your job?

I have a theme movie for my life, and that’s the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. In the movie, the main character George Bailey gets a marvelous gift. He gets to see what life in his community would be like if he’d never been born. And through that perspective, he begins to understand the positive impact he has made in the lives of his family, friends and community. That sums up my life purpose – to have a positive influence on lives of everyone God puts in my path.  My work gives me an opportunity to do just that. Working with people and helping them evolve, grow and find their own life purpose is truly rewarding.

3. You are definitely one of Roam’s biggest cheerleaders! How has being a part of the Roam community impacted you and your company?

I love the Roam Community! And I share that enthusiasm with everyone I know. Roam is a wonderful place that I consider to be “my office”. I love the energy of the place. I love the collaborative environment. I love the relationships I’ve formed. I love the super attentive and professional staff. I love the various work space options. I love that there are multiple locations across the city which allows me to have an “office” near all my clients. I am very grateful to be part of the Roam family.

4. Where did you grow up and what’s your favorite part about that place?

I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and the thing I liked most was the water. Water everywhere – the ocean, the rivers, the creeks, the lakes. Everywhere you turned there was a body of water. I love Atlanta for many reasons, but I definitely miss the abundance of water. That’s why we bought a weekend lake house in the mountains many years ago!

5. Name an item on your bucket list.

Hiking the entirety of the Appalachian Trail. I love hiking, and I especially love to hike in the mountains.  There is something about being in the mountains that brings me closer to God.  The Appalachian Trail is such an iconic trail and traverses across some of the most beautiful countryside in America.  With a length of 2200 miles, I most likely won’t hike it all at one time (takes 4-6 months).  However, I do hope to hike it section-by-section over the course of many years. God willing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
