Founder of The Morris Group

Emma W. Morris is currently a professor at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) where she teaches entrepreneurship and creativity/innovation while also continuing her consulting and coaching practice. Morris is a seasoned corporate executive and serial entrepreneur who has chosen teaching in higher education as a way to give back to her community and help train the next generation of business leaders. Morris practices what she teaches her students and clients. Through her 25+ year consulting practice, Morris has helped entrepreneurs with hands-on strategies for start-ups, rapid growth and exit. Along the way, she has launched four technology companies, three of which were sold to Fortune 500 companies. One company was a “bust,” but every entrepreneur needs to experience failure to learn valuable lessons that success cannot teach.

After earning her MBA at the University of South Carolina, Morris joined IBM as a techie where she started her first software company and built a national logistics/supply chain practice at Ernst & Whinney. She then joined the executive team at Atlanta’s legendary MSA where she launched the company’s marketing function and led the global merger transition process after MSA was purchased by Dun & Bradstreet.
